This volunteer position would suit a friendly person with an interest or experience in customer service and selling, and a desire to support and promote children’s charity work. Joining our Kiwanis Club is a great way to make new friends, discover the rewards of community service, and learn new skills.
As a bookshop volunteer, you can be creative setting up displays, making signs and taking photos for our our social media posts. The role requires some physical tasks like settting up trestles, shelving items, lifting small boxes of books, and putting out street signs. You’ll also learn to use our online catalogue system to search our collection of around 3,500 amazing books.
We host our pop-up bookshop inside the Roxy Lane Theatre at 55 Ninth Avenue, Maylands. This location is nestled behind the famous cafe strip on Whatley Crescent, close to the Maylands Train Station, and several car parks. Occasionally you may be offered a market stall shift in a nearby suburb. Please do visit us for a bookshop tour and chat.
If you join us, you will be working in a team on a monthly roster basis and be supported by the Bookshop Coordinators and Shift Supervisors.
Commitment: 9.45am – 1.45pm on a Friday (4 hours per shift), preferably twice per month (8 contact hours).
Must be: 18 years or older, willing to become a Kiwanis Club of Perth Friend (a volunteer with no membership fee), and get a WA Police Clearance (we provide the form and cover the fee).
